Getting Rid of Acne by Following Some Basic Principles
From time to time we have all had to study the basic principles of getting rid of acne, because as we all know acne does not discriminate. We have all had a pimple here and there, but for some it is a far bigger prolem than that. Some of us battle acne from childhood through adulthood. However, regardless of your the severity of your problem there are basic principles that should be followed when getting rid of acne.
The first basic principle is stop touching your face! For that matter, stop yourself from touching any zit prone area on your body. For many touching our face is a subconscious behavior. This is a great reason to wash your hands frequently as you have oils on your hands that might clog your follicles and pores. This is not only a way to create problems, but you guessed it. Worsen them too!
Secondly, it is a good basic principle to eat a well balanced diet. This is a widely argued about point, but come on, who does not benefit from a balanced diet of fruit, veggies, high fiber and lean protein. The health benefits are numerous, not to mention diets high in fat and sugar are thought to contribute to bad or oily skin.
The third principle in your fight for clearing acne is daily cleansing of your face. For some, twice a day is even better. It is better to avoid basic soap and body soap because they contain ingredients that could clog or irritate your pores. It is best to buy cleanser that are made specifically for getting rid of pimples.
The fourth principle is applying moisturizer twice daily. Although counterintuitive to many, realize I am not asking you to put oil on your face. I am asking you to apply a good facial moisturizer which will be oil free and non comedogenic.
The fifth principle is to treat from within. Take your fight inside your body by using an acne fighting supplement. This could be the ticket if you are plagued by persistent acne.
Also, change your sheets regularly or often. Your pillowcase harbors the oils from your face and hands. More than anything, if clearing acne is a problem then change your pillowcase, at the very least, several times a week.
Next, it is crucial that you remove your make-up every night before bed. Well, I don't care when you do this often ignored piece of advice, but you should not sleep in make-up, it will contribute to your acne whoes.
Popping, squeezing or picking your pimples is a big no,no. You are doing nothing more than contributing to infection and the spread of acne. Not to mention, you are only prolonging the time it takes to heal your whiteheads and blackheads. It may be tempting to pick, but leave them alone!
It is a good idea to wash your face gently. Scrubbing already irritated skin, simply adds to the irritation. Instead, it is better to use the pads of your fingers while rubbing in a gentle circular motion.
The last, but not the least thing you should do is be patient. You should be very, very patient when clearing acne. Give your self some time to improve.
For many, getting rid of acne is a life long quest, but for many proper, sustained care will give you healthy vibrant skin.
