9 Reasons to Say NO to Cosmetic Surgery
As we all know, wrinkles come into sight ahead of us noticing it. These unwanted lines and folds usually emerge on the face first, mainly on the eyes and the mouth areas as we gain age. There are many reasons that bring about the appearance of wrinkles and such are solar exposure, air pollution, insufficient vitamins, minerals and nutrients in the body, improper diet and smoking. The above lessens the levels of collagen and elastin which are the connective tissues of the skin, causing it to loosen thus producing wrinkles.
One is advised to follow a regular skin care regimen before wrinkles can even show up. The face should be washed for three times a day or as often as needed to take out the sweat and pollutants that might damage the pores. Natural sunscreen is very much recommended to guard the face from ultraviolet rays.
Drinking of water, at least 8 glasses a day, eating the right kind of food and avoiding caffeine, alcohol and nicotine could bring back the natural moisture of the skin.
There are vitamins that can help in keeping up a youthful skin. The creams and lotions that you use should have these components to make it effective upon application:
Vitamin A prevents the skin from being scaly because it puffs up the skin.
Vitamin C encourages the manufacture of collagen and put a stop to dryness and dullness.
Vitamin E & Coenzyme Q10 protect the skin from damage and improves blood circulation. These are antioxidants capable of protecting the skin from free radicals.
The Alpha Hydroxy Acids or fruit acids takes away dead skin cells to give way to new ones.
Whatever skin care or prevention, still wrinkles uncontrollably grow, first on the face and neck towards the other parts of the body. Then we think of other alternatives.
Men and women who are concerned of their looks find ways to combat these unwanted lines on the face. They have resorted to non surgical facelift, which is painless, safe, convenient and easy on the budget.
There are botox injections, anti-wrinkle liquids, oils and creams, laser treatment, chemical peels, micro-current technology and dermabrasion - the most popular ones. Most of them bring slight side effects like reddening of the skin, and blotches, but are not serious and can be controlled.
While it is true that non surgical measures are safe and easy, there are still others who are not satisfied with least results and choose cosmetic surgery. We think otherwise.
The 9 reasons why surgery is not the better option are:
1. Long time preparations for pre and post surgery are needed. You have to stay in a hospital which means added expense. Cosmetic surgery is not enclosed in your medical insurance.
2. Anesthetics bring allergic reactions to patients.
3. Swelling and scarring are a result of surgery. Scars could be permanent depending on the patient and they could be much more unsightly than the wrinkles.
4. Excessive bleeding may cause hematoma, the swelling under the skin. The dangerous part of it is that you may have to undergo another operation to remove the blood clots and stop the bleeding.
5. Parts of the skin are damaged where excess skin is removed.
6. Your face may become numb because facial muscles are weakened.
7. It is expensive and is painful even with the aid of anesthesia. It's the pain after the operation you have to undergo
8. Precautionary measures should be followed - what not to eat, what you can't do like strenuous activities.
9. Recovery can take time. It makes you stay in the hospital longer. From there, you still need more time to rest at home. Plus the fact that you have to take medicines for pain and some other antibiotics.
It looks like alarming to pick surgery over the non invasive procedures of facelift. The latter will save you time and money. Time, because a non surgical facelift takes about an hour. It saves you money, because you bring about lesser expenses than going under the surgeon's knife, which could cost you a fortune.
Now, it is your choice.
